Cable television also known as CATV is an acronym
for Community Antenna Television.
Originally developed in 1948 for areas where
over-the-air reception was limited by terrain.
Community antennas were constructed and cable
was run from them to individual homes.
Today’s cable industry is losing market share
due to costs and competition in technologies.
Cable television, pay telephones, daily newspapers
were all of great benefit in there time.
Cable television does not however require
a clear view of the southern sky.
Cable television is NOT available everywhere.
